Important Information For Your Visit

When possible please make an appointment.

Our clinics are open on weekdays from 8am till 5pm, plus Saturday mornings. Please see under the individual clinic tabs for updated clinic times. All consultations take place by appointment, please phone in advance to book an appointment.

We understand that an appointment is not possible in an emergency, but a phone call when you are on your way enables us to prepare for your emergency.

Sundays and Public holidays are reserved for urgent consultations, and there are short “open hours” on Sunday/Public Holiday mornings in our Margate and Bulwer Street clinics.

After-hours emergencies

After-hours emergencies are handled by a vet on call.

Please contact the after-hours vet by PHONE ONLY (No SMS/Whatsapp etc), on 0716086403.

The after-hours duties are shared between the group’s vets, and the emergency phone is forwarded to the individual vet’s personal phone. Occasional technical problems between cellphone operators can cause delays in transmission of calls, please persevere until your call is connected (we take after-hours emergencies very seriously, and our phones are never switched off, please understand that a delay will always be due to technical issues).

The clinics are closed after 5pm on weekdays, and after-hours emergencies will usually be managed at the individual vet-on-call’s “home” practice.

All medical records of our patients across all 4 clinics are available to the vet, irrespective of which clinic is chosen.

Financial policy:

  • Please note that we are a cash practice. All major credit and debit cards, EFT payments or cash are accepted.
  • Please discuss any financial constraints BEFORE seeing the vet, so that options for payment plans can be organised, and treatment plans can be adjusted with budget constraints as much as possible.
  • Please consider taking out medical insurance for your pets, to help provide in the case of an unexpected medical expense.  We can recommend  DotsureMedipet and One-Plan).

Purchase of refills of chronic medication
: Please telephone a day in advance with your medicine requirements, to enable us to get the medication ready for you.

NB: For refills of Schedule 3-6 medications:

To comply with the law, section 22A of the Medicines and Related Substances Act of 1965 (Act 101 of 1965), a full clinical examination must be performed after 6 months before a new prescription with 6 months’ repeats can be supplied.

This is not only a law, but is in the best interests of your pet: Disease status can change, and it is important to adjust dosages of medications, also to establish that the medication is actually still necessary, and that it is safe for your pet to continue taking the prescribed medication.
